BEATBOX INDO ini cuma istilah yang kebetulan BBXLGY temuin sendiri pas lagi iseng mikir buat materi blog yang merupakan singkatan BEATBOX INDONESIA secara umumnya, biar tidak kepanjangan bilangnya gitu, and that's the way it is dan juga tidak berhubungan kalau saja di luar sana ada sebuah produk dengan nama yang sama. Jadi mari BBXLGY sejenak ngomongin BEATBOX INDO.

Kapan beatbox bisa ada di Indonesia? Kalau tidak salah ingat beatbox mulai masuk pas dulu pertengahan era 90an boomingnya budaya hiphop, waktu jaman rappernya masih Iwa K dan NBA disiarin tiap weekend di tv swasta nasional. Siapa yang pertama kali ngebeatbox di Indonesia? (tidak ada kepastian sih sebenarnya dan juga berdasarkan twit Bandung Beatbox beberapa waktu lalu) ada urang Bandung kalau gak salah juga nih namanya JUNK D. Nah doi nih sudah mulai ngebeatbox sejak jaman Iwa K masih jaya sampai sekarang dan si JUNK D ini beberapa waktu lalu juga ngisi event BANDUNG BEATBOX: COMEBACK THE LEGEND.

Selain JUNK D, pada pertengahan era 90an juga ada TITZ G yang personelnya FADE 2 BLACK itu pas masih bocah sudah mengenal beatbox. Dan pada era 2000an mulai lebih mendalaminya ketika mulai beranjak dewasa. Lanjut pada sekitar tahun 2005 atau sekitarnya itu kurang lebih muncul pertama kali si BILLY BDABX di acara pencarian bakat tv swasta. Kemudian TITZ dan BILLY saling sapa di dunia maya dan bikin JAKARTA BEATBOX COMMUNITY lalu dikembangin lagi jadi INDONESIAN BEATBOX COMMUNITY dan launchingnya diadain di Goethe Haus Jakarta dengan dihadiri beatboxer terkenal dari Jerman yakni MANDO.

Berkat dunia maya, INDONESIAN BEATBOX COMMUNITY semakin besar dan sekarang berubah nama INDOBEATBOX, dan seterusnya dan seterusnya. You knowlah who are they.

BEATBOX INDO itu memangnya seperti bagaimana dan kayak apa? BEATBOX INDO terdiri dari berbagai macam komunitas dan grup di hampir setiap kota di Indonesia, that's why BEE LOW pernah bilang INDONESIA adalah negara pengakses video Youtube BEATBOX BATTLE terbanyak dan memiliki komunitas beatbox terbanyak pula.

Terus bagaimana dengan karakter BEATBOX INDO? Secara beatbox skillnya sendiri cukup kaya variasi, mulai dari yang pintar secara teknik, musikalitas maupun entertainment. Ada pula yang menggabungkan dengan musik tradisional, that's why it taste so INDONESIA.

What's good from BEATBOX INDO? Yeah, kita patut berbangga hati karena memiliki banyak bakat beatboxer yang secara tidak langsung mampu mengangkat kualitas BEATBOX INDO lebih baik di tingkat global.

What's not so good with BEATBOX INDO? Hanya sedikit yang benar-benar peduli terhadap perkembangan BEATBOX INDO, sebagian besar hanya memikirkan kualitas skill pribadi, ngebanyakin jadwal manggung dan ngeksis. Ada pula beatboxer alay yang omongannya lebih abstrak daripada kenyataan. Kemudian juga beatbox yang memiliki semangat musik indie justru dikomersialisasi oleh segelintir orang. Dan ini tuh kayak "BEATBOXER WHO CARE WITH THIS SCENE GOT NO MONEY, AND THE BEATBOXER WHO GOT MONEY GIVE NO CARE WITH THE SCENE."

Mungkin beberapa kalian masih ragu BEATBOX INDO ini apaan lho ya, ga jelas banget. Yo, dude! Pertama juga sudah dijelasin kalau ini cuma istilah iseng doang. Setuju gak setuju ya pendapat masing-masing. BEATBOX INDO is just an idiom that BBXLGY found to describe BEATBOX INDONESIA shorter as a word, it have no relationship if there is some product that also named like it. So let’s talk a little bit about BEATBOX INDO.

When beatbox come to Indonesia? If BBXLGY not wong, beatbox coming to Indonesia at the middle of 90’s, when Hiphop culture really famous, when Iwa K is the most famous rapper and NBA still in national television everyweek. So who is the first Indonesian beatboxer? BBXLGY don’t know it for sure, but from the Bandung Beatbox twitter few times ago, there is JUNK D. He beatboxing since the Iwa K golden age Indonesian hiphop era, and until now JUNK D still exist and few days ago also join the event from BANDUNG BEATBOX: COMEBACK THE LEGEND.

Not just JUNK D, in the middle of 90’s era, TITZ G from FADE 2 BLACK also learning beatbox since he was a kid. And in the 2000’s era when TITZ G growing as adult, he learn about beatbox more and more. And in 2005 or around, that was the first time BILLY BDABX exist in national television talent show. After that, TITZ and BILLY meeting in internet world and make JAKARTA BEATBOX COMMUNITY, it grows as INDONESIAN BEATBOX COMMUNITY, and MANDO from GERMANY join at the launching in Goethe Haus Jakarta.

Because of the internet, INDONESIAN BEATBOX COMMUNITY getting bigger and now known with INDOBEATBOX.

What is and how about BEATBOX INDO? BEATBOX INDO has so many communities and groups in every city in Indnesia, that’s why BEE LOW ever told INDONESIA is the number 1 country who access BEATBOX BATTLE Youtube and has so many beatbox communities.

Then how about the BEATBOX INDO character? From the beatbox skill, they have many variations, from the technic, musicality also entertainment. And some beatboxers also mix it with traditional music, that’s why it taste so INDONESIA.

What’s good from BEATBOX INDO? Yeah, we have to be proud because there are so many beatbox talents who indirectly can increase the BEATBOX INDO quality in global scene.

What’s not so good with BEATBOX INDO? Only few people who really care about the BEATBOX INDO development, mostly just thinking about their own skill, got so many events to perform and getting exist. And also there are beatboxer alay who talking bigger than what they do. And then, beatbox have the indie music spirit that get commercialized by some people. Warning: Tulisan ini dibuat bagi yang berpikirang terbuka, sudah dewasa dan tidak untuk mengajak berbuat keburukan (karena BBXLGY tahu tidak semua dari kalian wajahnya tidak buruk, termasuk BBXLGY sendiri).

Yup, ini salah satu quote andalan BBXLGY semasa awal kenal beatbox dulu. Karena pernah jadi rapper, maka mencoba buat ngutak-ngatik perkataan yang berima, dan ketemulah BEATBOXER IS A GOOD KISSER.

Lha kok bisa? Bisa bangetlah! Beatboxer ngebeatbox pakai organ tubuh seputar mulut kan? Ciuman juga pakai mulut kan? Kalau ciuman pakai hidung ntar malah mencium bau jigong. Beatboxer saat ngebeat itu menggunakan secara maksimal bagian bibir, lidah, gigi dan sekitarnya. Istilah jawanya tuh mulut mereka "pecicilan". Dan secara tidak langsung, seorang beatboxer bakal mahir berciuman, dengan siapa? Dengan kesendiriannya, ngowahahahaha, cuma berlaku buat yang jomblo. Ya yang pasti dengan pasangannyalah. Pasangannya perempuan atau lelaki atau diragukan? Ya senyaman kalian saja, amit-amit dah kalau sejenis.

Ciuman itu juga butuh perasaan, man. Kayak pas beatboxer lagi ngebeat, bisa secara fast beat atau slow, diatur sajalah gimana enaknya temponya. 

Terus hubungan beatbox sama ciuman kurang lebih menurut BBXLGY seperti ini. Pas bibir ketemu bibir itu kayak kamu lagi mainin instrumen kick drum ataupun snare PF. Pas mainin lidah itu kayak kamu mainin instrumen click, ngomongin click jadi ingat si Nixau. Terus dalam beatbox, gigi juga berfungsi untuk menghambat angin saat mengeluarkan suara, nah pas ciuman kalian bisa bikin gigit-gigit kecil dah.

Beatbox and Local Culture

Wilujeng tetepangan malih kaliyan kula, BBXLGY. What's good, BEATBOX INDO! Kali ini BBXLGY membahas sedikit tentang beatbox dan kaitannya dengan budaya lokal Indonesia. So y'all can check this one.

Beatbox dengan definisinya yakni menduplikasi alat musik dengan menggunakan media mulut sudah dikenal di beberapa kebudayaan lokal Indonesia, contoh gampangnya seperti sahut-sahutan suara yang terdapat pada tari Kecak di daerah Bali.

Budaya lokal di daerah BBXLGY sendiri yakni budaya Jawa juga mengenal duplikasi instrumen musik. Hal itu BBXLGY ketahui apabila saat sedang berlatih gamelan ataupun menyanyikan tembang Jawa.

Ketika akan bermain gamelan, BBXLGY diberi pengarahan dulu oleh seorang guru. Disitu akan diajarkan notasi untuk aransemen gamelan tersebut. Dan biasanya seorang guru tersebut akan menduplikasikan instrumen gamelan dengan mulutnya. Contohnya pada judul KEBO GIRO pada instrumen kendang dan gamelannya bagian pembuka akan ditirukan mulut dengan pelafalan "tak tak tung dah tong dung tong tho tung tak tok dhung." Dan kemudian dilanjutkan dengan menyebutkan notasi angka pada bagian berikutnya.

Alat perkusi juga terdapat di instrumen gamelan yakni kendang. Dimana perkusi erat kaitannya untuk diduplikasi dalam beatbox. So, beatboxer bisa menduplikasi ketukan kendang tersebut. Kendang sendiri juga ada beberapa macam sehingga menimbulkan variasi suara yang beragama.

BBXLGY juga mengetahui secara sekilas di salah satu daerah Jawa Tengah juga ada seorang dalang yang sama sekali tidak menggunakan instrumen gamelan, melainkan diganti dengan manusia. That could call beatbox, right? Tapi tergantung juga dengan tingkat kemiripan suaranya sih.

Terakhir apa yang bisa beatboxer lakukan buat melestarikan budaya lokal asli daerahnya sendiri? Yang pasti menduplikasi instrumen aslinya tersebut, ataupun mengambil melodinya dan dimasukkan ke dalam beatnya. Atau bisa juga dengan cara yang BBXLGY sering pakai, yaitu ngebeatbox sambil nyanyiin lagu daerahnya.

Gak asik juga dong kalau seorang beatboxer cuma kenal beatbox sebagai produk budaya luar, tanpa mau mengakulturasikan atau mencampurkannya dengan budaya lokal masing-masing daerah di Indonesia. Secara tidak langsung dengan cara seperti itu, budaya sendiri tetap terjaga dan syukur-syukur bisa dikenal luas oleh publik luar negeri.

The definition of beatbox is duplicating the musics instrument with mouth as the media, and Indonesian local culture know that since long time ago, just like the shouts sound in Kecak Dance in Bali.

The local culture in BBXLGY place is the Javanese culture also know the music instruments duplication. BBXLGY know that when practicing Gamelan or singing Tembang Jawa.

When playing gamelan, BBXLGY will get a tutorial from the teacher first. The teacher will teach the notation and the Gamelan aransement. And those teacher will duplicating the Gamelan sounds with the mouth. The example is in KEBO GIRO with the Gendang and Gamelan instruments at the opening will be like this: “tak tak tung dah tong dung tong tho tung tak tok dhung.” And after that, the teacher will continue it with the number of the notation.

The percussion in Gamelan instruments is Gendang. Which is those percussion have the relationship with the beatbox itself. So, beatboxer can duplicating the pattern from Gendang. Gendang itself have many kinds so will make many different sounds.

BBXLGY also know a little bit in one area of Central Java province, there are Puppet Master (in here called Dalang) who doesn’t use the Gamelan instruments, but change it with human. That could call beatbox, right? But, it depends with how real the sounds is.

Last but not least, what beatboxers can do to make the original local culture stay exist? One thing for sure, duplicating the original instruments, or take the melody and put it to the beats. Or just like what BBXLGY did before, singing the traditional songs while beatboxing.

It won’t be good if beatboxers only know the pop culture from foreign country, but not try to acculturate or mix that with our Indonesian Local Culture. Indirectly, our culture will be save and hope the foreign country will know about it.
